Medicinal Properties of Emu
Emu, a native bird of Australia, contains several medicinal properties.
The Australian aborigines had been harnessing the medicinal properties of Emu oil for different purposes, for a period of more than forty thousand years. The clinical experience with Emu oil has shown that it's two major benefits
are its anti-inflammatory properties and its ability to penetrate the
skin. It also appears to provide some degree of solar protection.
Emu meat
is 98% fat free and is rich in protein and iron, yet low in
cholesterol. The fat is 43% monounsaturated, which helps in lowering the
'bad' LDL cholesterol in the human body. Tender, juicy and delicious,
it is ideally suited to a wide variety of cooking styles and is a good
source that offers the fewest calories. In fact, Emu meat, is recommended by the American Heart Association as a heart healthy alternative meat !
